LOOKING FOR MALE MENTORS!!


Mentor Children at JFCS

Spend your time volunteering with youth by hanging out and making a
difference! Volunteers mentor 8-18 year olds in one-on-one matches,
providing supportive friendship, encouragement, guidance and academic
assistance. Just one hour a week of mentoring can help mentees succeed at
home, at school and with their friends. Volunteers are screened, trained and
committed to working with a mentee for at least one hour per week for a
minimum for six months.

Job duties include:

-visit with a mentee once a week to provide companionship
-listen attentively and enjoy matters of common interest
-assist with school work as arranged
-maintain monthly records if time spent with mentee
-abide by the agency confidentiality policy

Required Skills:

- volunteers must have experience working with children or adults with
disabilities
- Interest and ability to work with youth as well as the issues and
decisions they may face
-ability to listen supportively
- ability to work independently
